All students in the program experienced improvement in all three areas of literacy. The families note the difference in their children in terms of confidence, self-efficacy, and pride, as well as academic attack, engagement and increased literacy skills. One parent even mentioning “the kids are correcting us now - we need to step up our game.”
Students themselves notice how much better their levels, skills and confidence are and how much better it feels to understand the work in class - related to a sense of well-being.
Based on my extensive experience in accelerating outcomes for Indigenous, Pasefika and marginalised learners I fully endorse and support this programme. The approach is culturally responsive, agentic, and strength based.

Your Voice Matters
There is a very strong relationship between students participating in this programme and a lift in literacy skills and self-efficacy in literacy as explained by the students and teachers.
Students noticied how much better their skills and confidence are in other classes and acknowledged how much easier it is to keep up in class. Teachers witnessed “change” in students and considered what practices may be absent in their teaching.
